The Serene Garden, Gardens by the Bay’s new (2019) outdoor garden attraction has been inspired by the minimalist concept of Japanese zen gardens.
A tranquil 2-hectare space a stone’s throw away from The Meadow and a short stroll from the Supertree Grove, this green, calm and peaceful themed outdoor space has a number of features.
Podocarpus and Junipers whose interesting forms lend themselves to bonsai and traditional Japanese zen gardens have been discovered to thrive in Singapore’s tropical climate.
Along the garden’s periphery, the bamboos impart a special sense of serenity.
Bismarckias – these monotypic (the only species in its genus) argent-leafed trees, endemic to Madagascar, have prominent, fan-shaped leaves and frame the Serene Garden’s central water feature.
A central water feature anchors the Serene Garden, and a mini waterfall features more blue Niyodo rocks from Japan.
