Blooming in Dance features four types of Korean traditional dance, with lanterns made from kanji, a form of traditional Korean paper.

A section of the tour focuses on the roosting of birds on trees in urban centres, reflecting the themes of co-existence found within the production, Albizia, where such phenomena are represented by videos and a soundscape.
This is a companion programme to Albizia by Robert Zhao, running from 31 Aug – 3 Sep 2023 at the Esplanade Theatre Studio. The Studios companion programmes are an invitation to deepen engagement with the artistic works and the conversations raised in the season.

Its philosophy emphasizes capturing and sticking to an opponent`s centre line through simultaneous attack and defence and using opponents’ forces against themselves.
This production is a heroic story, a tribute to the ordinary people from the memories Dachun, a retired lighting designer found working in a dusty film archive; unforgettable memories of filming Wing Chun, Tai Chi, Baguazhang, Bajiquan, Praying Mantis Fist … some fast and powerful, some resilient and dexterous.
Like the excitement and strength of the world of martial arts, light and shadow are swords and fists in the film-making world. Master YIP firmly executes the first moves of Wing Chun, Siu Nim Tau to the ancestral motto ‘Support the Weak, Support Benevolence’, breaking down barriers between different martial arts academies, spreading his lifelong knowledge throughout the world.
