The newest from the NLB – with a focus on digital technologies – this 460-seat library houses a collection of about 200,000 books, magazines and audio-visual materials.
Opened on 12 Jan 2019, it is the size of half a football field and located on the 3rd floor of ViVoCity. The coastal theme with views of Sentosa and the sea is carried through with a blue-green colour scheme. It offers a dedicated area for children.
The children’s zone is designed to help young readers learn through technology. Tinker Truck is an area with augmented reality books on a variety of topics to make their reading experience more interactive. Books with QR codes can be scanned using apps downloaded from the App or Google Play stores, making the books ‘come alive’ on mobile devices. It also features the first ‘maker space’ in a library, aimed at developing creativity and children’s problem-solving skills through DIY learning materials, crafts and puzzles.

NLB will work with partners to run programmes related to science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics on a monthly basis.
A space has been carved out for projecting videos on all three walls of the room, using light and sound effects to provide a more immersive storytelling experience.
In keeping with other libraries such as library@chinatown, library @ orchard and library@esplanade, this library has a strong focus on digital technologies, both for adults and children. This library has the largest collection of augmented reality books.
